Yes, you can charter a yacht without a sailing license, but there are options:

  • For a bareboat charter (without crew), you must have a valid sailing license and experience.
  • If you do not have a license, you can opt for a skippered charter, which includes a skipper who will handle the sailing, and you can relax and enjoy the journey without needing any sailing qualifications.

The cost typically includes:

  • The rental of the yacht for the agreed-upon period.
  • Use of onboard facilities and equipment.
  • Insurance for the yacht.
  • The crew (if you’ve booked a crewed charter).

When selecting a yacht charter in Croatia, consider the following:

  • Your experience level: If you are an experienced sailor, a bareboat charter might be a good option. If not, consider a crewed charter with a skipper.
  • The type of experience you're seeking: Whether you're looking for a more active sailing experience or prefer to relax and enjoy the luxury amenities of a motor yacht or catamaran.
  • Group size and comfort: Make sure the yacht you choose accommodates your group comfortably, whether it's just a small party or a larger family or group of friends.
  • Itinerary flexibility: Check if the charter offers flexible routes and destinations, or if it has a fixed itinerary. This is especially important if you have specific places you want to visit.
  • Amenities and facilities: Some yachts come equipped with additional comforts such as jacuzzis, water sports equipment, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning. These extras may come at an additional cost but can enhance your experience.

Croatia generally offers excellent weather for sailing, with a Mediterranean climate that is sunny and warm in the summer.

  • Summer (June to September): Expect long, sunny days with temperatures ranging from 25-35°C (77-95°F). It’s the peak sailing season and the warm weather makes for perfect sailing conditions.
  • Spring (April to May) and Autumn (October): These seasons are milder, with temperatures between 15-25°C (59-77°F), making it a great time for those who prefer less crowded conditions and lower prices.
  • Winter (November to March): While the weather is cooler (around 5-15°C/41-59°F), it’s still possible to sail, but some yachts may not be available. The off-season is ideal for those looking for peace and quiet and lower rates.
